Musselburgh are saddened to hear the loss of two club members, Gary Dosser and Ray Megson.
Gary Dosser
Gary had fought bravely for the past year with illness but his battle ended suddenly last Wednesday when the illness finally took its toll and he was taken from us.
Gary was a former player and life time supporter of the Club. He worked tirelessly on the Board for a number of years as Secretary. His time on the Board was at a time when the Club was in a period of change and he and his fellow Board members helped the Club recover to be the force that it is now.
However it is potent that Gary should pass away last week, on the eve of our annual 7’s tournament. Gary and Alistair Bowman worked together over the past 15 years to make the tournament that it now is. Their efforts together helped transform our tournament and we continue to have teams of a high standard attend and compete for our trophy as a result of their efforts.
Ray Megson
Ray played for Musselburgh in the mid 60’s and although he was only with them for a couple of years he went on to become captain.
He left Stoneyhill and joined a very strong Edinburgh Wanderers side where he played until he retired from playing.
On his retirement he took up refereeing and quickly rose through the ranks. He became an International Class referee and officiated at a number of internationals.
Although Ray was only at Musselburgh for a short time he had fond memory’s of his time here at Stoneyhill and provided a great clip for our anniversary celebrations.
Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
