Musselburgh U18 Win East Shield

It was victory for the U18 team on Sunday as they won the U18 East Shield at Peffermill Playing Fields in the East Youth Cup Finals.

Match report from the weekend:

The colts ran out convincing winners against a good Peebles side in the East Youth Shield Final at Peffermill this afternoon.

The Colts were quick out the traps with Jay Johnstone barrelling over for an early score.

Next on the score sheet was Aaron Weatherhead darting over after another period of pressure.

Peebles not to be outdone came roaring back with an unconverted try of their own.

Musselburgh then scored there 3rd try of the afternoon with Jay Johnstone going over for his 2nd score.

Muss then tried to shoot their selves in the foot with a period of I’ll discipline allowing Peebles to score their 2nd before half time.

After regrouping at half time Musselburgh came out second half and scored try of the day from Marcos Perez-Young after a wide move down the touchline.

There was then a moment of controversy as Peebles scored wide out after a chip through and dash for the line with the peebles player clearly knocking on trying to ground the ball. (You know something is wrong when Charlie Devine gets upset at the ref!)

Not to be deterred Musselburgh got a grip on the game with some great exit kicks from Aaron Weatherhead and Charlie Prentice for field position. This enabled Max Duxburry to go on a bullocking run to score under the posts to complete the scoring.

Bruce Weathered contributed 4 out of 5 conversions for a final score of
