MRFC Players Complete 24 Hour Spin Cycle Challenge!

A group of Musselburgh Players and Friends have completed a 24 Hour Spin Cycle Challenge, raising over £6,000 for Alzheimers Scotland!

The team, consisting of Michael Maltman, Declan Slaven, Mark Gibson, Craig Owenson, Bob Stott ,Ronan Stott, Sandy Watt, William Fleming, Lewis Knight, Rory Smith, Calum Marshal, Luke Henderson, Jack Anderson, Jordan Davidson ,Sandy Glashan and Josh Herbert started off at 7pm on Saturday 3rd June, completing the challenge a day later.

Michael Maltman wrote below:

"On behalf of the Gym Spin Team, I would like to kindly thank everyone who donated towards this challenge. At the time of writing we have raised £6473 for Alzheimer Scotland, which has surpassed all expectations of fundraising we had as a group.

What was initially explored as a small challenge, grew into 16 players and members sweating it out for 24 hours on bikes; supported by members of the club, family and friends who helped to bring us much needed supplies throughout. A special thanks to Colin Scott and Lewis Freeman, for a tremendous cooked breakfast and emergency massages on some tight legs!

Across the four teams, we managed to cover 2413km in 24 hours - which equates to cycling from Musselburgh Rugby Club to Madrid, Spain!

The funds raised for Alzheimer Scotland will help improve the lives of people living with Dementia and hopefully one day, find a cure.

Thank you,

The Gym Spin Team"
