Musselburgh RFC is proud to announce that it has been awarded Champion Club status by RBS Rugby Force for our open day on the 10th August.
The day, which also holds our first pre season friendly against Stewart's Melville, is being held to invite all families and members of the community along to visit the club, to give people an opportunity to see our function facilities to hire, to have a first look at our brand new home and away kit by VSN Sports and also to sign up to a membership with the club.
Royal Bank Rugby Force is a grassroots initiative run by RBS in association with the SRU. The programme is designed to help clubs to attract and retain members, develop their facilities and make their club more sustainable for the future.
MRFC Treasuer Jill Irving has added: "In the past MRFC have used the campaign as an opportunity to get up to date on maintenance jobs around the club but found the call to volunteers for painters and handymen or women was not taken up well. We therefore took the decision to change our focus this year and proposed to run a Club Open Day which would give the members, non-members, the local community, local families and anyone who was interested in the club a welcome invitation to visit us.
We are keen to attract families along and are organising kids entertainment, as well as the Youth Section will run rugby taster sessions for any kids that would like to give it a try. We will be running a delicious BBQ and the bar and clubrooms will be open.
With MRFC 1st XV promoted to the Premiership for the coming season, we have had very welcome interest form brand new sponsors for the club and are keen to extend the invitation to visit us in whatever capacity to the community around us. We have a thriving youth section and hope this will give any families in the area the excuse to pop along and see us."
The open day is from 1.30pm onwards on Saturday 10th August at Stoneyhill and entry is free.
