The following statement has been released on behalf of the Musselburgh RFC Women's Team.

The Women’s Team at MRFC would like to acknowledge the recent events and the concerns that have been raised following the club dinner.
We recognise that formal complaints have been submitted and support the appropriate
disciplinary action being taken in relation to the speaker.
The content of the speech fell below expected standards and there was a clear breach of our
club’s values on the night. We acknowledge the apologies made and are satisfied that the steps
taken will prevent any repeat of this behaviour. We also respect the decision of those few that
have since chosen to step down.
However, based on our collective experience, we do not share the concerns raised regarding the culture of the club.
Throughout our time at MRFC, we have always experienced a supportive, inclusive, and
encouraging environment. The club has demonstrated a genuine commitment to the growth and development of our rugby by investing time, energy, and resources into the success and wellbeing of the team.
Our Club President and Board Members have consistently shown us dedication to fostering a
positive and respectful culture, ensuring that players are always supported, valued, and safe
within the club environment.
We remain proud to be part of MRFC. We are working closely with the board to identify where
improvements can be made and maintain the inclusive culture we have experienced throughout the club. This moment presents an opportunity for change and progress, and we look forward to continue working together with the club to continue strengthening the future of the Women’s Team both on and off the pitch.
Thank you for taking the time to read and consider this. We appreciate your support.
