Musselburgh Women To Enter National Bowl 2026

Musselburgh RFC will be entering their Women's Team into the National Bowl for the first time in it's history.

After competing with Caledonian Thebans in last year's competition, it will be the first time in the club's history that they have fielded a team for a national women's cup competition under the club name.

The team will begin with a home tie against well known opposition in Gala on the 22nd March, who they have faced before at Stoneyhill earlier in the season. This is followed with two back to back away trips to Aberfeldy on the 5th April and Banff on the 12th. The last tie of the group stages will be a home match against Falkirk on the 19th April.

Head Coach James Ferguson commented on the Bowl.

"We are very excited as a team to be taking part in the Bowl competition as Musselburgh Women for the first time. After finishing the Aspiring League with two good home wins, we will look to continue that form into the Bowl. We will take it one game at a time, what I’m looking for is consistency in our performances and improving each week."

"We are still a relatively new team with new players joining all the time. I’m personally looking forward to welcoming Gala and Falkirk to Stoneyhill having played them before. But what’s more exiting is the chance of a couple away games against teams we know nothing about. This will really challenge us going into these games with no idea of what our opposition have to offer. It’s great to see the women’s game growing over Scotland."

The final will take place on the 25th April at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
