Remembering John Crawford

We were deeply saddened to hear of the death of our former President John Crawford who passed away on Friday 12th November.

John was our Tour Manager when the club toured Canada in 1992 bringing a sense of order to the mayhem as you would expect from a time served police officer.

John was known for his strong opinions on the way rugby should be administered, opinions he was not shy of sharing both within the club and across the wider rugby community.

Following our return from Canada John continued to work diligently on the administration side of the club and was proud to step up to the President’s role in 2002.

John put in a lot of work gathering historical information regarding the club and his papers were extremely useful as we pulled together the communications surrounding our centenary year.

John moved to Buckie some years ago and whilst since then he has not been a regular visitor to the club, we would often see him whenever we were playing matches in the North.

John unfortunately had a long battle with Aphasia which has ultimately taken its toll. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

John’s funeral will be held at Buckie Crematorium on Tuesday 23rd November.
